Very Underrated Song March 11, 2003 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
"I'm A Slave 4 U" was the first single from Britney's 2001 self-titled album. Although it was a hit, cracking the top 40 and climbing to #27, this song should've been huge. With the possible exception of her debut single "Baby One More Time," this is her best single hands down. Catchy, with a great beat *and a great music video* this is great pop. Plus, Britney's vocals are actually pretty decent. The Neptunes did an awesome job on this.

I wish I could give this no stars .I didnt buy this album i was forced to listen to it in the dark room of a photo class , and from listening to this song i can warn you this is album is (...) , not saying her other "songs" arent , but this one sinks to a new low as she trys to reinvent herself,i guess thats what you call it when someone somewhat tollerable finds out she can make more money buy dressing (...) and makeing music that is equally horrible. I cant believe parents let there daughters/sons listen to such horrible, horrible music , it makes me want to vomit all over myself. if you like MTV generated (...) , im sure youl love this. and a year from now when tv is telling you what else is cool youll be saying , oh man britney spears i cant stand her music. ......hmmmmm , oh yeah shes a horrible role model , i thought id just throw that in . ok im done

This has got to be one of the worst songs I've ever heard. The lyrics are nonsensical, the beat erratic, and it all comes off as just a bunch of noise. I'm a moderate Britney fan, and have enjoyed most of her work, but this one is a stinker.

The overwhelming majority of material from Britney is just mind-blowingly bad. This much, most of you already know. But Spears hooked up with groovemeisters the Neptunes for this delicious piece of Prince-inspired funk. If His Royal Badness continued making good records, he might come up with something like this. Britney's voice is still lacking on this single, but the groove is too tight to resist. Indulge today, but you may hate yourself in the morning.

The first single off of Britney's third album, "I'm A Slave 4 U" is a move into dark, sexual R&B, with the help of producers du jour The Neptunes. Sounding like a new Prince single, she groans, grinds, and pants over seductive lyrics, explaining how devoted she is to the dance and the heat of a club. A great single, a disjointed bump and grind b-side follows in "Intimidated". An instrumental of the Neptunes production, and a slightly confusing interview are also featured, but the main draw here is the lead cut and it's b-side companion.
