It is fantastic. I love to dance and it is great to dance too.
J TO THE LO IS BETTER THAN HER 2 ALBUMS COMBINED, BUT... February 9, 2002 3 out of 6 found this review helpful
Jennifer Lopez is back....to put even more money into her bank account with J To The Lo (Remixes). This however is better than her 2 albums combined. Which isn't saying much, however some of the remixes are so botched you can't even recognize the original song that it was...i.e. "Ain't It Funny" now featuring Ja Rule to gain a higher chart position. The original "Ain't It Funny" wasn't catching on so the label did a quick remix which is on this CD not her other album and now with a little JaRule, a little soul, a little funk it currently is riding on the Hot 100 Billboard Chart in the Top 10. There are some good songs like my absolute favorite from her "Play" which got no airplay and peaked at a dismal No.18. Then there are duds like the bland, heard it before "I'm Real" which went to No.1...I will swear to my grave the American Buying Music Public is tone deaf, and doesn't like rhythm and beats or can't hear them that is why this song went all the way to the top. Then there is another hit with "Waiting For Tonight" which is another great dance song with the Hector remix. But most of the album just shows how mundane J Los music career really is except for some exceptions "Play", "Waiting For Tonight" and "Lets Get Loud" (which bombed on radio here). Another way to capitalize on making money by remixing hit songs with some hits and some misses.
J 2 tha L-O is a B 2 tha U-Y! February 10, 2002 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
"J to Tha L-O" seems more like an act of necessity because two of J.Lo's biggest hits(the remixes of "I'm Real" and "Ain't it Funny") didn't actually appear on the original version of "J.Lo" released last year and never have had a home of their own. This quickly produced project turns out to be Jennifer Lopez's greatest attempt! She's a solid singer, she's got the best hired hands in the business tightening up her album tracks, and she's a hottie. This CD is centered around her biggest hits and less of "On the 6" and "J.Lo's" filler(thankfully). This album is just pure joyride from start to finish! With everything great on top 40 radio, spiked with dance floor intensity. There's stamina and consistency here because these twelve tracks focus less on the Latin, R&B, and hip-hop elements of her originals, and shows what she's really capable of. "Walking on Sunshine," is the album's standout track, a stellar mix of samba and filtered disco influences melded with Euro pop. There's also a strong flava of '80s dance and pop music which gives the best tracks their swing on Pablo Flores' rabid Miami Sound Machine-style remake of "Let's Get Loud", P Diddy's new-wave hip pop splash "Feelin' So Good", and Hex Hector's remix of "Waiting for Tonight," which plays out with Everything but the Girl style. "Waiting..." was da bomb when it first was released, so it's no surprise that it was included on this CD. "If You Had My Love" is a dance floor ballad, while the sweet beats on "I'm Real", "Ain't It Funny", and "Play"(gotta love the "DJ play my m-frickin' song" lyric) are equally irresistible. All said and done, Lopez has never sounded hotter! It's all great stuff. I highly recommend checking out Jennifer's latest, and greatest, attempt. I gave it 4 of 5 stars because it was not all in the dance genre that I prefer, but don't let that keep you from checking it out. If my review was helpful to you, then please don't forget to vote. THANKS!
THE GREATEST RECORDING IN MUSIC HISTORY!!! February 12, 2002 3 out of 12 found this review helpful
Where do I begin? Take Aretha, Tina, Janis, Billie, Barbra, Ella, Chaka and Patsy. Combine them all and multiply by ten thousand and you have but a fraction of the talent of Miss Jennifer Lopez! Never before has there been in one human being such a volcanic combination of innate musicianship, raw emotion, and sheer vocal brilliance. In the past, we have had a Queen Of Soul, a Queen Of Disco, and a Queen of The Blues. Well, hang it up ladies!! J-Lo is queen of EVERYTHING. Her new CD "J To Tha Lo" makes "Sgt. Pepper" sound like a bad home demo. As a matter of fact, John Lennon once said the Beatles were "more popular than Jesus". Well, Jennifer Lopez is BETTER than Jesus. Really!! Her magical gifts should be sold by prescription only, that's how powerful they are. I have never in my life been so moved, and I think "I'm Real" (remix) should be our new National Anthem!! I never thought I'd say this, but move over Britney, you're history! Miz Lopez is EVEN BETTER than you. Okay folks, I need to stop now. I'm crying tears of joy and worship. I LOVE YOU, J-LO!! PLEASE LOVE ME TOO!!!!!!!!
It's HOT! (with a few no-no's) March 12, 2002 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Got a cool car, like to drive around with funky music playing? Or, are you like me and dance around the house in your underwear to really loud, fun music...? This CD rocks! J-LO left out the "spanish-influenced" fillers froher first two albums and remixed all her hottest hits... Okay, so why only four stars? "I'm Gonna Be Alright" and "I'm Walking on Sunshine" are a bit "cheesy"..not worthy as remixes..but still fun in their own way. "If You Had My Love" is still great, but a bit slow compared to the original..one of my old personal favorites. Once you hit these on the CD you might actually look down at the speedometer on your car..whereas the others keep your undivided attention. "Feelin' So Good" is very different...and what's this! P.Diddle..oops, I mean P.Diddy loans his own vocals to the Latin Diva's music?...How sweet and slightly controversial. Think he got an invitation to her wedding? :) ANYWAY..I digress..."Let's Get Loud" certaintly held it's own as a hot song, and the remix is O.K., but the newly-minted version can't compare to the original. Why is this still a four star album -It's Different. It's Fun. It's Impossible to not start swaying to the music when you hear it. In all, it is a terrific teaser to own until J-LO puts out her next best thing. As a former college party thrower, I can almost guarantee this would satisfy an eclectic bunch of people crammed into a confined space waiting for the beer to arrive. There is one thing I wish "J-TO Tha L-O!" had on it's line-up. I caught a long glimpse of her on tour, and to my surprise she was singing the fabulous theme song to the movie "Mohagany" ...the song Diana Ross once made famous. I am hoping she will put her version of the classic on her next album.
