4 out of 5 stars Finest representation of Rock/Pop on offer   June 21, 2005

This is the first time I have listened to Eve 6 on the advice of a dear friend of mine and I purchased this album. 'Its All In Your Head' is Eve 6's 3rd album. I enjoyed the rock-pop of this album and look forward to getting their 2 prior CDs. Eve 6 symbolises the dreams of a pack of young men who formed a band back in highschool and as soon as graduating they were signed to a major label. Since then they have had much success and had considerable radio time all around the world. It will take me time to get used to their signature sound but I know I am well on the way to becoming a big fan of this group. Two songs that stood out for me in this CD and one's that I could sing to and move my body to was 'Think Twice' a lovely serenade and 'Not Gonna Be Alone Tonight' a balad of youth's last stand. A wonderful album and well worth the buy.

    3 out of 5 stars Well, it's interesting.... I suppose...   July 27, 2003

After the self titled release, Eve 6's next album (Horrorscope) was awaited by a ravenous crowd. Many were turned off by it's power pop nature. Many more joined the ranks of Eve 6 fans, filling the spaces left by deserters and creating new ranks. Well, with a new producer came a new sound. It's All In Your Head opens with the guitar driven "Without You Here" which sets a harder rock tone for the album. Unfortunately this tone does not compliment Max Collins's voice. He sounded better with the middle of the road altrock of the first album and best with the power pop of Horrorscope. The CD tries to continue this new sound until the infamous track "Hey Montana" where it is immediately sent packing. While this song sounds fresh out of a Boy Scout Camp sing-a-long, it proves to be one of the best tracks on the album. It's followed quickly by "Bring The Night." Older fans rejoice at this tribute to what once was their sound. This track is certainly the best on there... until you hit track 8, "Friend Of Mine." A track about a friend who flirted with the thought of suicide, this track shows a side of Collins most had forgotten about. The album is finished on a note of mediocrity as Eve 6 melds all 3 sounds into a pseudo-mess. All in all a very power driven album with it's high points (see "Bring The Night On") and it's even lower points (see the Cake-esque "Still Here Waiting"). This album was set to be the savior of the 2003 summer rock scene and it may still be.

...But, only because the other rockers seem to have rolled over and died.

5 out of 5 stars These Guys Are The Best   November 21, 2003

OK. Granted I found out about these guys from my younger sister, but they are still great! We have been listening to them since their first CD!! They are the greatest they are able to keep comming up with new stuff that doesn't sound the same and I love their work. Unlike other bands they can write, play, and perform well unlike other bands. They are so great!! I strongly suggest that anyone who hates bands that are fabricated by corporate america should listen to this band! They are the best!! Hope you like their music and enjoy it as much as my sister and I have!

4 out of 5 stars not bad, guys   December 2, 2003

Without You Here - great way to kick off the album. upbeat and energetic, max belts out line after line of anguished lyrics. his voice seemed a little strained on this one, but it was still awesome. 9/10.
Think Twice - pretty dark compared to their past singles. it has a panicked, desperate theme, but the music skillfully controlls it to a beautifully harmonized, but still good rock, masterpiece. gotta love it. 10/10.
At Least We're Dreaming - a little more laid-back at first, in general a cool song. acoustics are more prominent. 10/10.
Still Here Waiting - this song's a blast. quick beat, max yells a bit, too bad it kind of burns out after two minutes. 8/10.
Good Lives - "promise that forever we will never get better at growing up and learning to lie." this is repeated throughout the song, alternating with other lyrics - after a while it sounds a little robotic. i dunno, could have been better. 8/10.
Hey Montana - love this song. i think it's so cool they've branched out a little. maybe a little lengthy for some, but it's got gorgeous sound and creative lyrics. 10/10.
Bring the Night On - old eve 6 coming through in this song especially. rapid lyrics, pretty deep. 9/10.
Friend of Mine - nice song, sympathetic, and begging a friend not to commit suicide. kind of peppy music to go along with the lyrics, but maybe it would have been too sappy if it hadn't been that way. whatever, awesome song. 9/10.
Girlfriend - very much like here's to the night on their horrorscope album in terms of style - basically, a rock ballad. they have some orchestrations going on in there, very nice touch. i was a little disappointed that the lyrics weren't as...deep as here's to the night's, but still a gorgeous song. 9/10.
Not Gonna be Alone Tonight - liked this one, too. "not gonna let you go this time, not gonna be alone tonight, you can try to break me down or start a fight, but i'm not gonna be alone tonight." max almost croons some of the lyrics, and the harmonies are really pretty. 10/10.
Hokis - the beginning almost fools you into thinking it's going to be another softer song, but the heavy beat comes in soon after. nicely thought-out lyrics and rhythm, hard to keep your fingers from drumming or feet from tapping along. 9/10.
Arch Drive Goodbye - max sings really well on this one. a bittersweet farewell through lyrics like "your self-help bookshelf is full now, your pictures are about to be pulled down, without a regard for a broken heart, it's another year..."
and catchy melodies throughout the song. 9/10.
In general, the lyrics weren't as good as in the past, and Max's voice is a little funky in some songs...but still an album worth buying. Enjoy, I always do.

I have been an Eve 6 fan since I was about 11 years old. After I lost my whole CD collection/cd player on my Safety Patrol trip to D.C., Eve 6's self-titled album was the first album I had bought since and I had to buy it on cassette tape because I hadn't gotten a new CD player yet. I bought this album because I loved "Inside Out" and also because I was going on a long trip to visit a great-aunt who was in critical condition.

Anyway, 2 years later, I bought Horrorscope and the first two albums are still some of my favorite to this day. I have yet to outgrow them. Now, I waited a long time for Eve 6's follow, It's All In Your Head and initially waited a few more months because I wasn't sure I would enjoy it. Think Twice was a cool song, but it was no "Open Road Song". SO I bought the album the day after my 16th birthday and I must say, I initially enjoyed it, but it still feels like a step back in a way. The members of Eve 6 aren't those high school kids anymore and yet their still writing songs that appeal to teenagers both lyrically and musically. This album sounds like they tried to take a chance to jump on pop-punk Good Charlotte, Simple Plan bandwagon except those two bands have nothing on this one. I admit that I would have liked to have another album as bright, fun, and as 80s-influenced as Horrorscope, but this album is not too bad of a follow-up.

Without You Here- (2.5/5) Not a bad way to start the album off. It gets you pumped and you can pretty much expect the same thing throughout the whole album.
Think Twice- (3/5) The first single from the album. Very nice. Nice concept for a song as well. "Don't you dare touch my lady, pahtner!" OR "Touch my lady and I'll have to bust a cap, ya heard?"
At Least We're Dreaming- (2/5) This is a kind of weak song, in my opinion. It's not bad if you're already a fan of Eve 6, but it pretty much follows the pattern of Without You Here.
Still Here Waiting- (2.5/5) This song has a lot of energy and the lyrics are sung very well.
Good Lives- (3/5) This song is still driven by the electric guitar, but the tempo is slower and the wordplay is nice.
Hey Montana (4.5/5) This is probably the best song on the album. It's the slowest, but it's got a great story behind it and it's very creative musically.
Bring the Night On (2.5/5) This is probably one of my favorite songs to sing along with. The words flow very nicely and it takes the mood and tempo of the album up.
Friend of Mine (2/5) This is my least favorite song. It's about convincing your friend not to commit suicide because you want them around, which is great message, but it's just not convincing for me.
Girlfriend (2.5/5) The "Here's to the Night" of the album. It works well, but the title is overused and the fact that it's scheduled to be the third single off of the album just like HTTN seems like it was made to be released to get airplay on the radio and MTV.
Not Gonna Be Alone Tonight (4/5) This is my favorite. I love the melody and the lyrics and I'm convinced that Max Collins (vocals/bass) is not gonna be alone tonight.
Hokis (2/5) This song has grown on me. At first, it just seemed like a bunch of noise, but I enjoy it very much.
Arch Drive Goodbye (3/5) Great closer! Very nice bridge.
