Lather, Rinse & Repeat June 24, 2006 Splash (Malahat BC, Canada) 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
Over It is just another band doing this modern rock thing. Default, Theory Of A Deadman, Trapt, Marty Casey, Nickelback all do it to a much better degree. Not to say that Over It is bad they are just the same. Nothing on this album is as good or better than the hits by the bands I mentioned. Over It will be lost in the shuffle on Modern Rock radio because they don't have a single on the same quality level as their peers. "We Are The Ordinary" is the closest thing to a single & may garner some play on music video stations. Their biggest problem is every song has the same sounds as the one that just ended. If the guitarists would have used some different sounds & feels to change the songs sonic textures that would have helped elevate them. The production is mutted which doesn't give the band a chance to soar. This album isn't terrible just terribley dull.
Record Of The Year March 24, 2005 Peter Stern (New Jersey) This is the record of the year. Discuss. I may be a little biased because I've met them and they're some of the nicest guys in the world, but the music leaves little need for bias. The record contains 12 songs, however Over It blow through them like they've got 12 more they need to record. Although they're still fairly unknown, their punk rock anthems and energetic stage performances have allowed them to open for some of the biggest names in the scene, and headlining is not too far away. "Siren On The 101," the record's first single, is the perfect example of the infectiously catchy brand of punk that Over It dominates. Over It has a way of writing songs with so much energy you can't help but move, and this record does not fail to capture that energy. If you've seen this band live, you'll instantly recognize "Waiting" and "We Are The Ordinary," as the band has been playing them live for a while. Other notable tracks are "Shine," "Take A Look Inside," and "Chef Yan."

Mainstream rock crossover album June 18, 2005 RaisedOnSpitalfield ((South) Medford, Oregon 5-4-1) I have no interest in hearing anything else this band has done in the past (i heard one song from "timing", and got a headache), but for what it's worth, this album I bought on accident turned out to be a pretty decent addition to my collection. You can tell that this is the album Over it intended to crossover into mainstream rock with, because instead of going with the same tired pop-punk formula, they took chances on complex, more epic and thoughtful songs. A few here tracks and there slightly bring back the talentless, simple sound of punk, but overall, it's a solid rock record. I predict these guys being picked up by island def jam and touring with fall out boy within the next couple of years. Download: Siren On The 101.
These guys are awesome! June 26, 2005 Alternative Lover 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
I saw Over It when they opened for Good Charlotte in Atlantic City a couple of week ago...they were so good! I wasn't expecting that. After the show I met Pete (vocals and guitar) and Alex who was filling in for the usual bass player, Seth. Not only are these guys great musicians but they're really nice people too. I saw them again a couple of days later, at of all place, our local bowling ally, and they were even nicer there. Nick, the other guirarist, is a sweet heart and James, the drumber, is hilarious. But, back to the music, they are great. I have to admit the best songs on the album are "Siren on the 101" and my all time favorite, "Shine," which is a beautiful song if you listen to the lyrics. I know these guys are going to make it far so buy this CD before everyone knows about them! Oh, and once you buy this album (and love it,) make sure to share it with all of your friends so they can become more popular. They deserve it! By the way, they're gonig to playing at Warped Tour if you want to see them live.
