    3 out of 5 stars It's alright.   May 18, 2006

For once I agree with the spotlight review..

I have been a Jagged Edge fan since the beginning, but it seems like they lose a little something with each album. I mean, this one is growing on me now, but the first time I listened to it, I was honestly thinking it might have been a waste of money. Here are my problems:

    1) Their songs would be SO much better if every time the chorus/hook came around, they didn't have the one guy (I don't know them by name) singing in the background over every dang hook. (Example: Hook is "she don't give a damn, she's so amazing.." and the guy goes SO amaaazziiiiing... amAAAAzziziiiiiing.... Whoaooaoaoaoaooohhhh.. oOAOoaaooaoaohhhh....) It's like, dude, we hear the hook without you deciding to oversing the two words that you like from it, over, and over again on every song. If they just took the hook and left it alone, without the extra layering of whats-his-name's voice, it would be SO much better.

    2) They used to be more heartfelt about their songs, there used to be more slow jams for the bedroom, etc.. NOW it seems like 9 out of 10 songs is about their drop top on the way to the club.. the whole thing is just too UP-TEMPO for me nowadays.

    3) They used to be halfway slow and dramatic, like R&B is supposed to be, but now every song they do has the same crappy drum beats. I REALLY WISH they could find a good person to produce their beats, I think that's been their biggest downfall in the past few years. Slow it down a little bit. R&B is not for driving your car down the highway, it's for the bedroom dangit.

I dunno, if you liked Hard a whole lot, you might like this one too, but if you liked their first couple albums the best, this is kinda like Hard but it goes even further downhill from where that album was taking their style.

I mean, I'm still a fan, but I paid good money for this CD and I think it sucks that I have to skip probably 9 out of 16 songs.

I just have to say that it is sooo good to finally hear from these brotha's!!! They have done it again with their new album entitled "Jagged Edge" You know how you get the sense that something is missing, but you just can't put your finger on it, well hearing their voices on the intro answers that question, it just takes you back to the day when you first heard them, kind of like when Hip-Hop first started, and you just knew it was going to be hot. I guarantee you will find yourself reminiscing when listening to this new album. All of the tracks are great ( I wouldn't expect anything less), but the ones that definitely stand out are Watch You, Crying Out, Good Luck Charm, and Season's Change (the ladies know what I'm talking about) Fella's there's some tracks they threw down as well for ya like Questions,Sexy American Girls, and Baby Feel Me. Their bonus track Stunnas is going to bumpin in the clubs this summer, Jagged Edge got it like that. I have been a Jagged Edge fan since day one, and I hope they continue to do one of the many things they do best, and that is put out great music. I have always felt that they don't get the props they deserve, just know that I have and always will love Jagged Edge! These fine men have always kept it real, and I hope they never change that. Thank You Jagged Edge for another sensational album, and hopefully you will bring your tour to D-Town.

    Forever a Jagged Edge Fan!

5 out of 5 stars JE Is Back!   May 14, 2006

I have loved Jagged Edge since their first CD. They always have great beats, awesome lyrics and such great harmonies. They can keep it smooth but, at the same time switch on the "street" real quick.

Jagged Edge's latest CD is one of their best in a while. It has the perfect blend of the slower-smooth songs to the street bumpers all while keeping that trademark Jagged Edge sound.

All the songs on here are good. They pack this CD full of radio-friendly songs. 15 (including the bonus track) - that's a lot of great music.

    Standout Tracks:

    "Ghetto Guitar"
    "Watch You"
"Get A Lil' Bit Of This" (Good party bumper)
    "So Amazing"
"Question" (A classic JE sounf to it)
    "Who U Wit"
    "A** Hypnotic" (THE JAM!!!)

This CD is worth the purchase!!! They keep with their same JE flow so any JE fan will like this a lot. For anyone who is not familiar with Jagged Edge - if you like good and smooth R&B with some tight jams - this one is for you!!!!

5 out of 5 stars Jagged Edge - Best Male R&B Group   May 15, 2006
2 out of 2 found this review helpful

Jagged Edge shows time after time why they are the best male r&b group out since the Boyz II Men/ Jodeci era. With their fifth album they come with the same Jagged Edge sound but with a twist.

I have been down with JE since their first album and I will continue to be a huge fan. This album flows smoothly and is well balanced from start to finish. I actually love every song but my absolute favorites are Hopefully, Crying Out, Baby Feel Me and the download bonus track Stunna.

Everytime I get tired of the normal mediocre r&b JE blesses me with a breath of fresh air. Keep it going guys, without you where would r&b be!

    3 out of 5 stars A Jagged effort.   July 1, 2006

First off being a true fan of this group, I was not impressed with this cd. I was suprised that some of the songs that were marked on the sticker label as being hits turned out not to be hits in my book. The two songs that I enjoy are Watch You and Hopefully. Fourtanely these two songs are one right after another. So each time after they finish I happily eject the cd, so you get my point. Jagged Edge needs to come again, with the Real Deal soon, because this was nothing more than a cd filled with hopeless fillers. I love you guys, but no Cigar this time. One Love.
