5 out of 5 stars Some Hearts is an excellent debut album   November 15, 2005

Some Hearts is an excellent debut album from Carrie Underwood. Every track on this CD sounds so good. The title track is an upbeat song about some people get lucky in love. My favorite track is Jesus Take The Wheel. This is a standout song about putting your life in Jesus' hands. I really liked the song. I'm not a particularly religious person, but I enjoyed it. I think Carrie sounds great here. I Aint In Checotah Anymore is another highlight on this album. This is a song about how quickly Carrie's life has changed since she became famous, and yet she remains a modest and humble person. I Can't Live A Lie is a very good song about how two people drift apart in a relationship. Carrie's vocals are very touching here. Before He Cheats is another one of my favorite tracks. This is a song about all the thoughts that go through a woman's mind when she suspects her boyfriend is cheating on her. I love the song Wasted a lot too. This is an awesome song. It is a reminder that we should try to live our lives with no regrets. Don't Forget To Remember Me is a very pretty song about how much Carrie loves and misses her family. The Night Before Life Goes On is a good song about growing up and beginning your life as an adult. I think this is a song that everybody can relate to. I really enjoyed listening to this CD, and I recommend it to anyone.

    5 out of 5 stars A MUST HAVE!!!   November 15, 2005

Carrie Underwood (in my opinion) is the most deserving of the American Idol title since Kelly Clarkson. That being said: it is truly shown on her debut CD. Her voice is amazing and she has some great song writers on here.

This CD is aimed right at County/Pop & Adult Contemporary audiences. So, you can imagine there is something for everyone included on this CD. Her sweet and innocent looks go along with her very crisp, clear and refreshing voice. She is going to go very far judging by this effort.

There are SO many radio-friendly songs on here - I can see almost all of them being a hit. I am not a huge country fan and NONE of them are TOO country for me. They are perfectly sang and produced. She can belt out a song like nothing which (in my books) puts her right up there with the great voices of Celine & Mariah.

Standout tracks include: "Jesus Take The Wheel", "Wasted", "Lessons Learned", "Before He Cheats" - which has some awesome lyrics that you would not expect Carrie to sing. She is talking about keying a guys truck and carving her name into his leather seats. AWESOME!! LOL! Also: "That's Where It Is"

They are ALL good! Her stunning voice shines throughout! With a debut like this she has A LONG future ahead of her!!

    ********************You will not be disappointed*****************

5 out of 5 stars Carrie "Ain't in Checotah Anymore"   November 15, 2005
23 out of 25 found this review helpful

From the moment her name was announced on May 25th, 2005, on FOX's "American Idol," I knew I could expect great things from Carrie Underwood. Carrie has many things going for her, especially her angelic voice and her natural beauty. Her debut single "Inside Your Heaven" was her first attempt at impressing the non-"Idol" crowd, and it has fared extremely well, selling more than 430,000 copies. Although the song itself was not much of a triumph, Carrie's vocals salvaged it and made it soar.

On "Some Hearts," Carrie cements her true country roots, which is the direction she has decided to take her career in. There are many standout tracks, from "Wasted" to "Jesus Take the Wheel," and "Starts With Goodbye."

    1) "Wasted" - 10/10. This is an excellent lead-off track. Although it is midtempo, the melody is very catchy, and the chorus is easy to get stuck in your head.

    2) "Don't Forget to Remember Me" - 8/10. This is a great song, and the lyrics are meaningful. Not the most memorable track on the album, but it has its moments.

    3) "Some Hearts" - 9.5/10. Though it is one of the more "popish" songs on the album, it is catchy and has great crossover potential. Very similar to much of Shania's material.

    4) "Jesus, Take the Wheel" - 10/10. This song is amazing. Carrie's role as a storyteller is believable, and the lyrics are incredibly inspirational. This song will make Carrie a star in the Country music industry.

    5) "The Night Before (Life Goes On)" - 8/10. Vocals are the highlight on this track. A very "country" song, but not her best.

    6) "Lessons Learned" - 9.5/10. Amazing song. The lyrics aren't very originally, but the chorus is catchy. The melody is also great.

    7) "Before He Cheats" - 9/10. The most fun song on the album. Carrie shows that she can do both the serious ballads and the "exciting" songs.

    8) "Starts With Goodbye" - 10/10. One of the best songs on the album. Beautiful lyrics and piano on this track. Probably my favorite ballad on the album.

    9) "I Just Can't Live a Lie" - 9/10. Carrie's vocals drive this song. Her control is amazing, especially in the bridge. Lyrics are bland, but that doesn't affect the overall song.

    10) "We're Young and Beautiful" - 8.5/10. One of the more "true" country songs on the album. Some of the instruments can be annoying at times in this song, but the vocals are still a bright spot.

    11) "That's Where It Is" - 8/10. One of my least favorite songs on the album. It sounds too similar to some of her other songs. Still good, though.

    12) "Whenever You Remember" - 9.5/10. The chorus is beautiful on this song, and the guitar chords fit very well.

    13) "I Ain't In Checotah Anymore" - 9/10. One of the more fun songs on the album, the lyrics are very memorable and catchy. The song is easy to relate to for anyone who has left life in a small town for the city.

    14) "Inside Your Heaven" - 7/10. Easily the weakest song on the album. Although the vocals are beautiful, there isn't much else worth mentioning.

Again, I think we can expect great things from Carrie Underwood in the future. If you enjoy her music, I highly suggest you check out Diana DeGarmo's debut album "Blue Skies," as her voice is a match for Carrie's.

Standout tracks: "Wasted," "Some Hearts," "Jesus, Take the Wheel," "Starts With Goodbye," "Whenever You Remember"

5 out of 5 stars Carrie Underwood Is the next Big Star   November 15, 2005

Okay I am a huge Country Music fan and usually I am very picky with my singer but this girl has got it. Shes got that twag like LeAnn Rimes and can hold those huge notes like Martina McBride. The songs on this album are unbelieveable. Shes got songs about Cheating men to songs about wishing she was back home in Checotah.

    1. Wasted- 5/5 this is a great song. This is going to be her next single she holds some unbelieveale notes in this song. It's about a woman that leaves her husband becuase she needs to stop wasting her time, and the husband cleans up his act and quits drinking.

    2. Don't Forget To Remember Me- 5/5 This is a great song. It's about a mom and daughter having a hard time leaving each other. The girl is moving out to make a life of her own.

    3. Some Hearts- 4/5 This is a pop song. She won American Idol and felt that she needed to throw a few pop songs in here for those fans. It's clearly a Leann Rimes meets Hialry Duff song. But it's catchy.

    4. Jesus, Take The Wheel- 5/5!! This is my favorite song on the album. This is her first single and its just wonderful. It's about a woman whos driving home to see her family and she starts to almost get in a wreck and she talks to jesus. She promises to do better in life.

    5. The Night Before (life goes on)- 4/5 This is still a good song but it's jsut not my sort of song. It's catchy but not my favorite. I couldnt honestly tell you more than that because i've only listened to it 2 times.

    6. Lessons LEarned- 3/5- This is my least favorite song. All her songs are catchy but this one I jsut didnt like the way it started. The chorus is good though.

    7. Before He Cheats 5/5!!!- I love this song. This is a GREAT song. It's sort of like SHeDAISYs Lucky for you song. She says "He doesn't know that i dug my key into the side of his pretty little souped up 4 wheel drive i carved my name into his leather seats...." This is a great song about a guy that cheats on her with a bleached blonde tramp haha.

    8. Starts with goodbye 5/5- This is another great song. It's got some amamzing noted and a great chorus. It's about leaving a bad relationship that you know your gonna miss. (I guess its gonna have to hurt i guess im gonna have to cry )

    9. I just can't live a lie 5/5- This is a song about a woman saying she could leave her boyfriend and pretend to move on but she just cant live a lie. It's a good song. I like it a lot.

    10. We're Young and Beautiful 4/5- This is a catchy song about telling her boyfriend to love her while they are still young and beautiful. and to kiss her like he means it.

    11. That's Where it is 5/5- This has an extremely catchy course. I think this should be one of her singles she releases. Very catchy and has some MArtina Mcbride like notes in it.

    12. Whenever you remember 5/5- I've only gotten to listen to this 2 times since I got the cd this morning but what i've heard I love it. This is another catchy song.

    13. I ain't In Checotah Anymore 5/5- This is a song about wishing she was in Checotah (her hometown) She comes pares how she used to go cow tippin to taxi callin. This is a good song. Very funny.

    14. In side your heaven 5/5- This is the song that won her the American Idol title. It's a good song but i'm more a fan of her country songs on this album.

This is one of the best cd I have ever bought. She sort of reminds me of LeAnn Rimes meets MArtina McBride with SHeDAISY songs. This is a great album and she is a WONDERFUL singer. I highly recommend you buying this cd!

This new CD is amazing. In fact, I'm listening to it right now in my dorm room haha....anyway, all of the songs are fantastic, honestly, any of these songs could be released as singles. My favorites are "Wasted", "Some Hearts", "Lessons Learned", as well as "That's Where It Is". But truly, the CD is simply amazing. A MUST BUY!!!! SO GET UP, AND GO GET IT!!!!!
