1 out of 5 stars She is no Gloria...   April 5, 2007
14 out of 29 found this review helpful

To be honest, I laughed in disdain when I heard that Jennifer Lopez was releasing an all-Spanish language album. Granted, she does have talent as she is a decent actress. However, she does not possess any talent as far as music is concerned. Bottom line: She is no Gloria Estefan, who will forever be the reigning Queen of Latin Pop. Since Celia Cruz's passing, Estefan has held the thrown as the modern queen of Latin music. When Lopez first burst onto the music scene, she received the comparison that she would be the new Gloria. Sorry, that will never happen.

For one, Lopez is not a native Spanish speaker, nor does she write any songs. Her voice is extremely limited, and although she may have improved some, it is far from being Gloria or Selena-quality. Jennifer may be respected as an actress (with fair reason, too), though she is seen as a laughingstock in the music industry. "Como Ama Una Mujer" will never been seen as a classic. Now, "Mi Tierra" by Ms. Estefan is a classic, being the greatest-selling Latin album in music history.

Why has Gloria held the title of Latin pop queen for 20-plus years? The answer is blatantly obvious.

I much rather Jennifer stick to acting and dancing, which is her more her territory. She will never be recognized as a true artist. If it wasn't for Marc Anthony, excellent salsa crooner and husband to Ms. Lopez, this album never would've been born.

If anything, this album will sell due to the status Jennifer Lopez possesses, not because of her or the album's musicianship.

    1 out of 5 stars Que?   March 27, 2007

Jennifer Lopez back with a new album. She's trying something new and is singing in Spanish. I am suprised at how well this album is produced and everything but Jennifer's voice is still weak. She can't sing and she should stick to acting.

    1 out of 5 stars Jennifer's downfall..........   March 27, 2007

Jennifer Lopez is to me the most fashionable, best dressed celebrity in Hollywood. And all of her movies are great, SHE'S A GREAT ACTRESS, AND SINGER!!!! But even though I dont know Spanish that well I can still tell whether an album is good or bad. And this is BAD. I thing the first single "Que Hiciste", is terrible. It is very weird sounding, plus the video is a lackluster. But I wish that she would have came out with more songs off her earlier album "Rebirth".

    1 out of 5 stars Que Hicistes J-Lo??   April 12, 2007

Can't sing, can barely sing or speak Spanish and can't dance like Shakira...J-Lo loves the camera and "thinks" she's IT. OMG when is this nonsense going to stop? Her "fans" buy this music so this woman "believes" she can sing. She is simply trying to be "Selena" but isn't worthy even a glitter of Selena's gold...you should be ashamed of yourself trying to copy someone so famous, so talented, and now deceased!! And, please, J-Lo stop "trying to laugh like Selena." Selena's laughter was true and full of life and yours is the contrary. Woman, you simply have no talent. Ben Affleck must laugh at your outlandishness at how hard you're trying to portray that you and Marc are "happily married" and Dayanara Torres must thank her lucky stars that you took away the buffoon of her husband who is now your sidekick. Get it girl, your songs are annoying and irritating and it's obvious in this album you're also trying to sing/sound like Marc Anthony...stop! You obviously have no style that's why you keep trying to copy others and wouldn't be surprised if you'll be trying to copy Shakira's moves!! Please no more pretend music and recording studio exec...QUE HICISTES?? Even the album's title is awkward!!

1 out of 5 stars The Absolute Worst!!!   April 2, 2007

I bought this cd because I really enjoyed the songs "No Me Ames" and the salsa version of "Escapemonos." However, this is the worst Spanish cd that I have ever heard. I would like my money back!!!!
