"Brave" production October 10, 2007 4 out of 9 found this review helpful
In all honesty, this CD is a great production piece. It has some awesome grooves that are going to make you want to keep it in rotation. Let's face it! We don't go out and buy Jennifer Lopez CD's for the voice. When we were given a sample of the track "Mile In These Shoes" over a month ago (as a promo video for "Desperate Housewives"), it was evident her voice was purposely overdubbed and overlayered to make it sound thicker. They even use blatant studio trickery to help her voice sound slightly robust in the chorus. We know she doesn't possess the vocal modulation required to hit the note on the opening line to the "Mile..." chorus. She sings "even if they try," when we know it's not something she'll ever attempt to try live. But let's digress. I read recently in Billboard that she probably took some tips from her husband as to which musical direction to conquer. Let's all take a sigh of relief, since gone are the rapper mixes and extra tracks of the same songs. This CD has a great dance and even 80's vibe. The opening track, "Stay Together," has a killer hook that won't let go of you and "Hold It Don't Drop It" has slick production, thus accomplishing the same feat. What we've got here are some good songs to groove to. The pop music world has few divas and, though Jen is certainly not one of them, she does get props for knowing exactly what she's doing and seemingly having a great time during.
Miles in these Shoes October 12, 2007 4 out of 11 found this review helpful
I had high hopes for this album and with every listen it gets better. I can see some good singles coming off this album like Mile in these Shoes. This album doesn't cathc you right away, so give it a chance and let it grow on you. I like that better than being instantly hooked!!!
Jennifer Lopez is Off the Hook!!!!! October 20, 2007 4 out of 7 found this review helpful
What a great CD and at a great price.Jennifer always gives you, your moneys worth.I love this CD which is way superior than her "Rebirth" CD which I wish she released the songs "Step Into My World" & "Cherry Pie" which would of helped the Cd's sales. On "Brave" Jennifer sounds great and the whole CD you can listen to, it flows well.Love Love the song "Brave" which I hope is Jennifers next single, definitly a feel good song.Other great songs "Do It Well" and "Forever".I definitly would recommend people to buy this CD or Deluxe Cd which has 4 videos.
Jennifer's Best November 20, 2007 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
This is Jennifer's best album, its been out for more than a month now and I can't stop listening to it. "Wrong When You're Gone" is the best track, a mid tempo R&B ballad, it will give you butterflies in your stomach, trust me. "Forever" the second best track is an awesome Asian inspired R&B dance track, which is instantly memorable and has a great hook. Other great tacks are "Hold It Don't Drop It", "Never Gonna Give Up", "Mile In These Shoes", "Brave" and "Do It Will" Remix. Buy this album, you won't be dissapointed.
A Solid Effort October 11, 2007 3 out of 7 found this review helpful
First off, I want to say it's a shame that Jennifer receives such criticism and negativity. She's very "Brave" for not giving up and not letting the naysayers get her down. True, she doesn't have the strongest voice but she does have great songs that make you feel good. If you don't like her, don't buy her products or cds; don't come on here to bash her and write non-constructive reviews.
"Brave" opens up with a high-energy song "Stay Together". It's very catchy and it has a positive message about staying in your relationship. "Forever" is a good mid-tempo R&B song. Both "Hold It Don't Drop It" and "Do It Well" have infectious beats that can get anyone energized. "Gotta Be There" is another mid-tempo pop song with a good rhythm. "Never Gonna Give Up" starts out really slow but it turns out to be a good song with an R&B vibe. "Mile In These Shoes" has a real good flow to it. I just love the fresh sound that it brings. "The Way It Is", "Be Mine" and "I Need Love" are good pop songs. "Wrong When You're Gone" is a slow ballad type with a good flow. "Brave" is another mid-tempo song and it makes a good closer. If you buy the deluxe version, you'll get a "Do It Well" bonus track featuring Ludacris. Ludacris does a good job blending in with the song.
All in all, I really love "Brave". There are no fillers; every song sounds great and fresh. It sounds like a "On The 6" and "J. Lo" mix. If you want good pop music and if you're a Jennifer fan, I highly recommend "Brave". Good job Jennifer!
