Selection of Songs Not Great September 23, 2008 Tommy Gavin 8 out of 12 found this review helpful
I actually downloaded only three of these songs. I wish she'd have picked a better grouping of songs. My major complaint is on "Here's That Rainy Day." That is my favorite song of all time. I think she did not do the song justice at all. She should have done it along the same lines as "Until the Real Thing Comes Along" - nice and mellow. Kenny Rankin and Stan Getz did great versions of this song....just sing the song the way it was written, this is why it is a classic - stop trying to put your own spin on it. Although Rankin did put his spin on it, he's good at it. I was so disappointed with this standard, I thought she would have knocked this one out of the ballpark because she has the perfect voice for this song but it was just the opposite.
Natalie is back September 10, 2008 Robert G Yokoyama (Mililani, Hawaii) 5 out of 17 found this review helpful
I love this new disc from Natalie Cole. The duet with her father is the best track. "Walkin my Baby Back Home" is a great track. Another track I love is "Why Don't You Do Right". The saxophone playing on this track is superb. It gives this track a nice jazzy sound to it. "Coffee Time" is a light breezy track. "You Go To My Head" and "Nice 'N' Easy" are the two most romantic songs on this disc. "Come Rain or Shine" and The "Best Is Yet To Come" are two classic song standards. Natalie performs them so well. "How Do You Keep The Music Playing" is a beautiful song. The piano playing by Alan Broadbent is so good here. This is such an enjoyable disc to listen to.
Slendid & Amazing September 10, 2008 R. A. Johnson (Chicago, IL United States) 5 out of 17 found this review helpful
Natalie Cole hits another standards based album out of the ballpark with the class & grace as only she can deliver! "You Go To My Head" is especially jazzy & smooth. She made an excellent decision to wait a few years after 'Unforgettable' to deliver this special collection. I'd forgotten how special standards could be and couldn't be more thrilled with the results of her latest effort. Natalie reminds us all that she's 'Still Unforgettable!' Bravo!!!
Still Unforgettable is simply superb!!!! September 12, 2008 Kimmany1999 (Phoenix, Az) 5 out of 14 found this review helpful
Natalie Cole has done it again. I cannot stop listening to this CD. Her production is absolutely sublime. I'm proud of her and wondering why did it take her so long to produce her own CD? Clearly she has done a great job with this effort. Her rendition of How do you keep the music playing is haunting, yet beautiful. Simply superb!!! Good job Natalie.
Still Unforgettable, still brilliant October 15, 2008 Mr. Faron M. Fawcette (Earth) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Like her albums "Unforgettable w/ Love" and "Take a Look" from 1991 and 1993 respectively, Natalie Cole takes on the classic American songbook. The results are again breathtaking. Lush, exquisite arrangements and outstanding production complement Miss Cole, who's in fine voice as much as ever. If you buy just one album this year, make it this one. *wolf7*
